Union County is in the midst of building a new state of the art court house due to overcrowding in the existing tower. The new building, expected to be about 78,000 square feet, will provide six courtrooms and office space for Union County and the Union County Improvement Authority, the agency spearheading the work. It will also include a 151-space parking garage at its site on the northwest corner of Cherry Street and Rahway Avenue — about a block from the existing courthouse and courthouse annex.
COMMSULT was hired to provide the following Information Technology, Security and Audio Visual design services to aid in the project.
IT – All new high speed data infrastructure to support voice, data, video, security and other systems.
Audio Visual – Entire building paging system, Courtroom Audio w/assisted listening, Remote Testimony with Video Transmission.
Security and Access Control – Detainee holding cells prior to courtroom entry; Sally Port (Mantraps); Access Control for all doors, elevators, Judges Chambers, and parking; high definition security cameras; and a wireless emergency duress system.
Develop a coordinated set of working details, specifications, spreadsheets and reports, which will depict the security system requirements and strategies for the facility. Provide a comprehensive set of Audio Visual and Security System plans and specifications. Prepare Design Development drawings for review and analysis, as necessary to show Audio Visual and Security equipment and system deployment in the space(s) proposed. Provide Audio Visual and Security Contract Documentation and Project Bidding Implementation.
