Built in 1911, the Brewster Building in Long Island City already had a strong connection with the aviation industry even before JetBlue subleased in 2010. The building was where the Brewster Aeronautical Company manufactured the Brewster F2A (known as “The Brewster Buffalo”), which was the first monoplane fighter airplane used by the U.S. Navy during World War II. JetBlue’s consolidated office spaces in in the building now serves as the company’s new headquarters and houses over 900 employees. COMMSULT was engaged to design all structured cabling systems that support JetBlue’s operations in the 210,000 square feet Class A office environment. By identifying and defining the Client’s requirements, we were able to provide design solutions and related documentation and administration while managing quality during installation. Provided all basic services related to VOIP wiring and wire management including Base Building Consultation, Phase One – Pre-Design / Programming, Block, Stack and Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development. Attended weekly meetings with progress drawings, diagrams, cut sheets, calculations to articulate and coordinate required progress with the project team.
COMMSULT also designed and engineered a 13,700 square foot Operations Center within the new headquarters to track all of the airlines flights. (19) LCD screens throughout the floor provided instantaneous information concerning flight status, weather and news conditions and other general important information. (8) Computer sources modulated to 1080i high definition RF signals and distributed to each screen and (2) HD CATV tuners made available as sources. Microphones located at control desks for room wide zoned communication via in-ceiling loudspeakers. A central control panel for screen source selection, audio selection and system status information. Modulated RF high definition computer video sources distributed throughout Jet Blue offices for viewing in conference and/or training rooms.
